Town Administrator - Salary Ranges
Update 1:
I have been advised that Hampstead does not have a Town Administrator, so I have removed that entry from the table below. It did not affect the ranking of Gilford but did lower the percentages above the Average and Median values by about a percentage point.

This post will show (and is setup for discussion) the salary ranges of the equivalents of a Town Administrator of similiarly sized towns in order to demonstrate where Gilford compensation stands in relationship.
Please note that we pay our Town Administrator, based on the maximum amount of the range, 4th highest of the group at 18.9% above average and 21.97.8% above the median maximum salary.
This post will be updated when actual costs are obtained.

Hampstead does not have a Town Administrator, although that has been the dream of several ex-Selectmen transplanted from MA, who want the glory but not the work. In fact, the Town has categorically voted down the position every time it has been presented as a warrant article.
What we have is an Administrative Assistant to the Selectmen, whose duties are, generally, to support the Selectmen, perform tasks as directed by them and act as the Human Resources Administrator for the Town employees.
This is quite different from a Town Administrator who is empowered to run the daily affairs of the town and then, report to the Selectmen. Thus, I suggest you remove Hampstead from this table.

Hi Jorge,
I went back to check my info, and the NH Municipal Association (www.NHLGC.com) does have Hampstead listed as having a slot for a Town Administrator.
HOWEVER! I bow to your superior knowledge in this matter (after all, you live there, right?) and will remove it.
